Admissions policy

The enquiry-to-enrolment process, capacity checks, decisions, documents and the distinction between an application and a school place.

About this demonstration policy

Lagoon Heights Academy is a fictional demonstration school. This policy illustrates a complete school process as at 8 October 2026; it is not an approved policy of an operating school or a claim of legal certification. The sample email, telephone and address are not monitored services. Do not submit real children’s information, send money or rely on this demo for urgent help. A live school must approve its own details and procedures before using this copy.

Choosing the right learning environment

Families can ask Lagoon Heights Academy about age groups, learning programmes, visits, support and current capacity before applying. The live school must publish the applicable class-age guidance, session dates and approved fees. The demo does not offer real places or represent a recognised school inspection. A conversation helps identify appropriate support rather than making assumptions from a diagnosis, family background or a marketing campaign.

Application and necessary information

The applying adult gives accurate contact details, the child’s name and date of birth, intended class and their relationship to the child. Staff explain the limited admissions use of that information. The adult must be entitled to provide it; optional photography and promotional contact are separate choices. The public form is not the place to upload detailed health reports, custody documents or passport scans. If evidence is needed, staff request it through an authorised private route and explain who will review it.

Review, assessment and reasonable support

Admissions staff check capacity, age/class suitability, prior learning and the documents appropriate to that stage. A visit, conversation, assessment or interview may be offered with an explanation of what it will involve. Tell staff about an adjustment needed to take part; discuss relevant care and learning support privately. Decisions are made and reviewed by authorised people, not solely by an automated score. Staff explain any conditions or outstanding information without promising a place before review is complete.

Processing fees and waiting lists

A processing charge applies only where the school has disclosed its description and amount and you have acknowledged it before submission. An invoice is not a payment. If a disclosed processing fee is required, it must be verified before an offer or enrolment. Paying it does not buy a place or guarantee a successful outcome. Where a class is full, staff can offer a waiting-list route, state how positions are reviewed and confirm how long the enquiry information is kept. No family is charged an undisclosed fee just to learn that capacity is unavailable.

Offer, acceptance and enrolment

An authorised written offer states the class/session, applicable conditions and acceptance date. Ask for the agreed fee schedule and the full admission agreement before accepting. Staff verify guardian, emergency, fee-payer and collection relationships separately and record legal restrictions where relevant. Acceptance and required checks lead to a pupil record and reviewed school-fee arrangements. An approved tuition plan goes through its own review before installment invoices are generated; it is not combined with a second ad-hoc tuition charge for the same obligation.

Transfers, withdrawals and reconsideration

For an in-session transfer, staff confirm the available class, intended start date, previous records and the charges/services that actually apply. Do not assume the public application button completes an immediate transfer. Tell admissions if you wish to withdraw or a material fact changes. The school confirms the status and any fee decision in writing. If you disagree with an outcome, ask for its reasons and a review by a person who was not the original decision-maker; the Complaints policy explains escalation. A review does not automatically reserve a place.
